  1.                      TASKMAN 4.0

  3. TASKMAN is a task tracking program that I've created to help keep track
  4. of tasks or activities. Anyone needing to keep tasks or activities
  5. organized can make good use of this program. It is an inexpensive
  6. alternative to the project management programs that are commercially
  7. available. My personal experience has been that these programs require
  8. more information to be entered than I need to manage my projects.

  10. You will find that this program is self documented through the use of an
  11. integrated help file. You can press the F1 key at any point in the program
  12. and get help for the current item or action. For this reason, the
  13. TASKMAN.HLP file must be in the same directory as the TASKMAN.EXE program.

  15. With TASKMAN you maintain tasks as well as resources and valid status
  16. codes for the tasks. The TASKS, RESOURCE and STATUS databases, along with
  17. their related key files are created the first time TASKMAN is run.

  39. ║ All of the files except for TASKMAN.EXE and TASKMAN.HLP  ║
  40. ║ are created in the current directory, when TASKMAN is    ║
  41. ║ started. You must be in the directory that you have      ║
  42. ║ existing tasks in, in order to access them.              ║

  45. If you execute TASKMAN by pointing to it on the command line
  46. (eg. C:\UTIL\TASKMAN), TASKMAN will create these files in the current
  47. directory.

  49. TASKMAN has a very flexible printing routine. You have the option of
  50. either printing all of the tasks, or selecting a subset of tasks based
  51. on a variety of selection criteria.

  53. Below is an image of the help screen that you can invoke in the Print
  54. Options window, by pressing F1.

  57. ║ This screen is used to allow selecting a subset of all        ║
  58. ║ of the tasks as well as selecting the sort option for the     ║
  59. ║ report.                                                       ║
  60. ║ You have the option of either printing the tasks in text      ║
  61. ║ format, or in GANTT format.                                   ║
  62. ║ If a GANTT chart has been selected, select the bars to print. ║
  63. ║ The program prompts for the printer to be used for printing.  ║
  64. ║ The available sort options are: by Task Number                ║
  65. ║                                 by Resource                   ║
  66. ║                                 by Planned End Date           ║
  67. ║ If you select Resource for the sort field, you also have      ║
  68. ║ the option of printing each resource's tasks on a new page.   ║

  119. TASKMAN has a task database maintenance screen which lets you
  120. "clean" up your file by permanently deleting unwanted records. The
  121. program prompts for the selection criteria, just as in the print
  122. routine, and will finally (after one last chance to cancel) delete the
  123. records based on the selection criteria. In this way, tasks which have
  124. been given a "closed" status can all be printed then, deleted. You can,
  125. at any time do maintenance on tasks individually using the task
  126. maintenance screen.
